If you are
reading this today, do you ever sense that there’s a gap between your
expectations as a council tax payer and your council?
The independent
Forum was set up in 1997 to represent the LGB community and question the
Council on its policies and services that affect us.
- If
you are a parent in South Gloucestershire, are you concerned about
homophobic bullying at school? Or hate crime in your neighbourhood?
- If
you are a gay parent with a child in one of our schools, do you worry
about the indirect bullying they might be suffering?
- As
a young person, are you a victim of hate crime and don’t know where
to go for support?
- Perhaps
as an older person you have worries about going into sheltered
accommodation with your partner – how will the other residents
react?
- What
are your entitlements as a civil partner?
- If
you have a disability, is the personal care you’re getting
appropriate for an LGB person?
- Do
you suffer double discrimination by being gay and a person of colour
or faith?
The South Gloucestershire LGB Forum can signpost you to officers inside
the Council, as well as specialist advice services that our Partners in
the Police, PCT and voluntary sector can provide.
